Fort Pierce Utilities Authority Receives Florida Public Power Reliability Award Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) has received a 2026 Florida Public Power Reliability Award, recognizing the utility’s continued commitment to delivering reliable electric service to the Fort Pierce community. The Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) presented the award during its Board of Directors meeting on July 15 in Palm Beach, Florida.The Florida Public Power Reliability Awards recognize municipal electric utilities across the state for outstanding performance in key reliability metrics. Utilities compete within four size based categories: small, medium, large and extra-large. FPUA received the Endurance Award in the Large Utility category. The award recognizes utilities that maintain an annual average outage duration (SAIDI) of 60 minutes or less for consecutive years. FPUA earned the distinction for maintaining that level of reliability for two consecutive years, placing it among Florida’s most reliable municipal electric utilities.According to FMPA, Florida’s municipal electric utilities continue to rank among the state’s most reliable electric providers. Twelve municipal utilities achieved annual average outage durations below both the industry gold standard of 60 minutes and the lowest average reported by Florida’s investor-owned utilities. “The municipal utilities are having a tremendous year for reliability, and that deserves to be celebrated,” said Jacob Williams, general manager and CEO of FMPA. “These awards demonstrate how well each of the winning municipal electric utilities serve its respective community and highlight the value of strategic, meaningful investments in reliability efforts.
