There are scammers targeting utility customers in our area. We have been alerted to two types of scams targeting FPUA customers.
The first type of scam is from a caller offering to conduct a free Home Energy Audit. The caller proceeds to ask many questions regarding work hours, who/how many persons live in the home, etc. Please do not give any personal information to any caller.
The second type of scam demands immediate payment, often by a prepaid debit or store card and threatens that their service will be cut off if they are not called back within the hour.
Please be aware that FPUA never gives just a single notice one hour before disconnection, never threatens customers, and never requires purchase of a prepaid debit card.
If you experience these types of calls, please hang up, call FPUA to report the call and then call the POLICE.
