Fort Pierce Utilities Authority has service crews out working to restore service at this time. Phone lines are busy with callers and we are asking you to be patient. We know your power is out and will work long and hard to restore you.
During the night, Matthew’s winds caused over 15,000 outages in Fort Pierce and crews have already restored more than 6,000. The largest areas impacted were Hutchinson Island, South of Virginia and the Airport area. Prior to the storm’s impact we brought in additional crews that more than doubled our existing service and vegetation management crews.
Outside crews will have FPUA badges for identification purposes and we are asking the community to be careful and watch out for scams from those posing at FPUA crews.
There are things you can do to help speed up our repair work and stay safe, too.
Please keep away from fallen or low-hanging wires and nearby standing water. Water that touches a live wire is as dangerous as the wire itself. Call Fort Pierce Utilities immediately if you do see a downed line at 772-466-1600.
Don't trim any trees until Fort Pierce Utilities crews are finished working in the area. Try not to block access to poles or downed equipment by placing debris around them. The faster we can get to the problem, the faster we can fix it.
